Lakers Close Weekend With Win Vs. Williams

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team defeated Williams College 3-1 at the Marano Campus Center Arena on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Oswego improves to 11-8-4 on the year, while the Ephs fall to 12-9-1.

After going down 1-0 on a power-play goal late in the first, Oswego countered quickly. Victoria Blake, who took the penalty that resulted in the Eph's goal, nabbed her first as a Laker, scoring at the 2:54 mark. Erika Truschke won a face off back to Brianna Rice deep in the Williams zone to get the play started. Rice found Blake at the center of the blue line and the defenseman clapped a shot that beat the goaltender.

Alli Ullrich scored second for Oswego, resulting in what would be the game-winning goal. Up a skater due to a Williams penalty, Oswego's Andrea Noss tried to jam a puck in short side but was stopped. She gathered the rebound and sent it to Alexa Aramburu on the sideboards who in turn sent it to Ullrich at the blue line. The St. Louis, Mo. native rifled a wrister that found its way past a screened netminder, giving the Lakers the 2-1 lead. Bailee Goodon would knock in an insurance goal later in the third as she received a nice pass Laura Thacker who was below the net.

After allowing the first goal up, Tori Trovato locked it down for Oswego, shutting out the Ephs in the second and third and collecting 24 saves on the night.

Women's ice hockey will return to action at 7 p.m. on Friday as the team hosts Elmira College for a late-season ECAC West battle.
