BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team dropped its road contest 3-1 to Buffalo State Friday evening. With the loss, the Lakers move to 7-7-1 in the conference and 12-10-2 overall. Buffalo State improves to 10-4-1 in the SUNYAC and 14-6-4 overall.
After finding themselves down 2-0 after 20 minutes of play, Oswego was able to make some headway in the second.
Alex Botten lit the lamp for the Lakers at the 6:03 mark as he ripped a slapper off a
David Ferreira pass. The deficit was quickly put back to two though as the Bengals netted another a few minutes later. Buffalo State would hold its 3-1 lead until the final horn, earning them the conference victory.
Matt Zawadzki got the start in net for the Lakers, stopping 33 Bengal shots through 60 minutes of play.
With playoff seeding still on the line, the men's ice hockey team will have a crucial away game at 7 p.m. on Saturday against the Fredonia Blue Devils. The outcome of that, and the other conference games around the league, will determine if the team earns the fourth, fifth or sixth spot in the SUNYAC Championship.
