Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Lakers Dealt Loss by Third Period Goals

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team allowed two goals in the final seven minutes to fall 2-1 at Potsdam on Saturday night in the Maxcy Ice Arena. Oswego's loss makes its overall record 10-9-2 with a 7-6-1 mark in conference action. Potsdam is now 11-7-4 on the year and 7-4-2 in SUNYAC play.

Kenny Neil was the first on the board in the contest, notching a goal at 11:22 of the first period. That goal, his Laker-leading 12th of the season, was assisted by Chris Raguseo and Sean Federow and was on a 5-on-3 power-play. The Bears were called for a hook and a trip less than 40 seconds apart preceding the Neil tally.

Oswego would then possess the advantage for the next 42:18 before Potsdam evened the score at 13:40 of the final period. Just over three minutes later, the Lakers were whistled for a trip, putting the Bears on an extra-man opportunity. Potsdam capitalized just 20 seconds in to the power-play, as Vinny Caligiuri scored the eventual game-winner.

Adrian Ignagni made 27 saves between the pipes for Oswego.

The Lakers outshot the Bears 31-29 on the evening and won three more face-offs (34-of-65).

Oswego will return to the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday when it opens its home-and-home weekend series with Canton on the road. The next night, the Kangaroos will visit the Marano Campus Center Arena at 7 p.m. as the Lakers hold its Senior Night.
