GENEVA. N.Y. – With help from an
Alexa Aramburu goal, the Oswego State women's ice hockey team downed William Smith 2-1 Sunday afternoon at The Cooler. With the win, the Lakers improve to 10-8-3 overall and 6-7-3 in the conference. William Smith moves to 8-11-2 and 3-9-2 in the ECAC West.
With the game tied at 1-1 after 60 minutes of play, Oswego found itself in a five minute overtime with the Herons. It was here that Aramburu was able to receive a pass from
Andrea Noss and put the puck past the Heron netminder to secure the Oswego victory.
William Smith opened up the scoring with a goal midway through the first period, scoring at the 7:09 mark. The Lakers evened it up in the second period though, thanks to a shorthanded goal from
Andrea Noss.
Ashley Lyman received a tripping call 2:36 into the stanza, but Oswego was aggressive on their penalty kill and it paid off, as
Olivia Ellis was able to feed Noss for the game-tying goal.
Tori Trovato earned the win in goal for the Lakers, racking up 25 saves in the process.
Women's ice hockey will return to action on Friday at 3 p.m. as the team hosts Williams College at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
