OSWEGO, N.Y. – Five Oswego State teams will be competing this weekend as well as one individual Laker. Weekend competition will be highlighted by action right here in Oswego as the men's basketball team will take part in its first ever NCAA Sectional round.

After securing victories in the first two rounds of the Division III NCAA tournament, the squad will host the remaining four teams in its region this weekend. Max Ziel Gymnasium will play host to two games on Friday, with Christopher Newport University and Keene State tipping off at 5:30 p.m. Later on, the Lakers take on The College of Wooster at 7:30 p.m.

The winners of each game will face off in an Elite-8 matchup on Saturday, which will also be played in Max Ziel Gymnasium and will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the contest can be purchased online at https://tickets.oswego.edu or by calling the box office (315-312-3073). Prices for tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for senior citizens, all students and children; while children under the age of two are free.

Keeping with the NCAA vibes, Oswego State's Ben Griffin will be representing the Lakers at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. Griffin, who earned his way into the 800-meter race with a time of 1:53.26 last week at the St. Lawrence Fast Chance Meet (14th fastest in Division III), will take to the starting line at 5:05 Eastern Time on Friday.

Men's lacrosse will travel to Morrisville on Saturday for a non-conference matchup with the Mustangs. This will be the first matchup between the two teams since 2012 when the Lakers won by a score of 15-7.

Women's lacrosse will be in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it welcomes RIT for their home-opener and first ever regular season contest at Laker Turf Stadium. In last year's contest, the Lakers hung tough before eventually falling 11-9.

Baseball will travel to St. John Fisher on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader matchup starting at 11:30 a.m. as they try to keep their undefeated streak intact. In last season's contest between the two teams, the Lakers sent the Cardinals out of town with a 3-1 loss.

After suffering their first loss of the season, men's tennis is looking to get back on track with an away matchup against Elmira College. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. as the Lakers look to improve to a 6-1 record.
