HOW IT HAPPENED
The contest proved to be a struggle from the opening tip, as Oswego found it difficult to crack Cortland's defensive pressure. The Lakers shot just 20.7% from the field in the first half, trailing 42-19 at the break. While the offense found more rhythm in the second half—shooting 44% and matching Cortland's 42 points in the final twenty minutes—the early deficit was too large to overcome against the defending champions.
Gary McLane led the way for Oswego with nine points and seven rebounds, while
Deacon Judd and
Jayson McGhee each added eight points.
Arthur Foster and
Steven Bradley chipped in six and five points, respectively, as the Lakers fought to create opportunities in the paint.
After navigating a tough conference schedule and securing a thrilling semifinal win over Oneonta just a day prior, Oswego demonstrated the resilience and talent that have become hallmarks of the program.
