Late Mustang Run Causes Laker Loss

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell 8-5 to Morrisville State on the road Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Oswego moves to 1-2 on the year, while the Mustangs remain undefeated at 3-0.

After allowing two early goals, the Lakers found some offense towards the end of the stanza. James Lennon cut the Morrisville in half as he scored his third of the year with 3:31 left in the first. Bobby Emerson then tied it up late in the second only to go down a goal going into halftime.

In the second half, Luke Krizman tied it up scoring the lone goal for either team in the third. The teams then exchanged goals at the start of the final period, still locked in a draw. Oswego would take the lead with 7:46 left in regulation as the Lakers were able to convert on a man-up situation. The Mustangs would close the game scoring four unanswered though, securing the Morrsiville win.

Krizman finished the game with three points, coming from a goal and two assists. Zach Anderson was the only Laker to secure multiple points as he had both a goal and an assist.

Wyatt Russo played all but thirty seconds for Oswego, collecting 11 saves on the day.

As a team, the Lakers gathered seven more groundballs than the Mustangs (31), led by John Novitsky's four.

Men's lacrosse will resume action with a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday as it hosts Hartwick College at Laker Turf Stadium.
