OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season 18-7 over visiting Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon in its first-ever game at Laker Turf Stadium. Oswego is now 1-1 on the year while the Tigers drop to 1-2.
Freshman
Teresa Shattuck made her imprint on the contest with seven points in just her second collegiate contest. The Syracuse, N.Y. native found the back of the net four times while assisting on three of her teammates' goals.
T. Shattuck was aided by older sister
Erannan Shattuck's and
Gemma O'Kane, who each registered five-point outings. The elder Shattuck distributed four assists, including one to her sibling, to go along with a tally. O'Kane, a sophomore, scored three times and handed out two helpers in the Laker victory.
Also finishing with multiple-point games were the senior trio of
Emily Lange,
Esther Gabriel and
Lindsey Eggers along with junior
Kelsey Henderson. Lange notched three goals while Gabriel and Henderson both chipped in two. Eggers had a balanced day with a goal and an assist.
Rounding out the point getters for Oswego was
Briana Kimble and
Kendall Appelbaum. It was Kimble's fourth goal of the year while Appelbaum's was the first of her career.
Goalie
Angela Ponto kept the Tigers at bay, stopping nine shots while allowing just seven goals.
Oswego was 15-for-18 on the clear, caused six turnovers and outshot RIT 35-26.
The Lakers will remain at home for its next game, as it welcomes Houghton College to campus at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
