OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team cruised past Houghton College 18-2 at Laker Turf Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Oswego is now 2-1 on the year while the Highlanders drop to 2-3.
Houghton was held scoreless by the Lakers until less than 10 minutes to play in the tilt, as Oswego scored the game's first 16 goals. The two squads traded a pair of goal over the final 6:55 to arrive at the 18-2 final.
Erannan Shattuck had a stellar outing, not only recording a game-high 11 points, but setting a new program mark in the process. The senior distributed a career-best eight assists, breaking the previous Oswego State career assists total of 83, which was held by Hall of Famer Kat Stead. Shattuck now has 85 helpers in her time in a Laker uniform. Her 11-points also tied her with Stead for sixth-most points in a single-game.

Esther Gabriel and sophomore
Gemma O'Kane tied for a game-high four goals, while O'Kane also chipped in an assist. Gabriel won a contest-best four draws, followed by
Kelsey Henderson and O'Kane's three apiece.
Henderson had a multiple-point day, scoring two goals, as did
Teresa Shattuck (1 goal, 4 assists),
Briana Kimble (1 goal, 1 assist) and
Lindsey Eggers (3 goals).
Angela Ponto earned her second victory of the year between the pipes, holding the Highlanders scoreless over her 44:51 in net. Senior
Erin Ganley played the game's final 15:09, stopping one Houghton shot.
Oswego was efficient on the clear, successful getting into its offensive zone 15 out of 17 chances. The Lakers dominated on the draw with 19 wins in 22 opportunities. Women's lacrosse will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to Utica College to face the Pioneers in a nonconference battle.
