Men's Lacrosse Suffers First Loss at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the 2016 campaign with a 19-4 defeat at the hands of host Ithaca College on Wednesday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. With the loss, the Lakers are now 1-1 on the year while the Bombers go to 3-1.

Oswego had four different scorers in the contest. A trio of sophomores each recorded one goal, as Luke Krizman, Tom Herbert and Adam Burlew found the back of the net. The Lakers' fourth tally came from freshman attacker Bobby Emerson. Emerson's notch was assisted by senior James Lennon.

In the 50-50 ball situations, 10 different Lakers recorded a groundball, paced by Teddy Phillips' five. Phillips also led the squad on defense, forcing a team-high four turnovers.

Junior Wyatt Russo took the loss between the pipes, playing 37:49 with 11 stopped shots and 13 goals allowed. Troy Calkin relieved Russo and closed the final 22:11 with five saves on 11 Ithaca shots-on-goal.

Oswego will now set its sights on getting back in the win column when it travels to Morrisville State to face the Mustangs at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
