OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team defeated the College of New Rochelle in come-from-behind fashion, winning 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-21). Oswego is now 1-0 on the year whereas the Blue Angels fall to 0-1.
After dropping the first set, the Lakers rallied to win the final three sets. Oswego tallied 11 kills in the second set, led by
Alison Sullivan's four.
Lauren Edwards had two service aces in the frame and assisted on five kills. She would total 15 helpers in the match.
In the third set, the Lakers continued to ride the momentum.
Lindsey Champitto led the way in the assist column with seven; she finished the match with 17.
Ariel Murawski led in the kills department for the set with four and tallied a team-high total, along with
Emma Moriarty, of nine on the evening.
On defense, three Oswego players ended with a block.
Isabella Winklestine, Murawski and Sullivan all recorded two block assists whereas
Megan Russell tallied three.
Moriarty led the team with 11 digs. Seven other Lakers, including
Jessica Long (8), Winklestine (8),
Alison Berger (9) registered a dig in the win.
The Lakers will return to the court on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to play against The Sage Colleges. In the second half of a doubleheader, the Lakers will take on Anna Maria beginning at 12:30 p.m.
