POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team battled back from down 2-1 to Plattsburgh for a 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-10) victory in the first conference matchup of the season on Friday evening. Potsdam hosted the SUNYAC Pool Play, seeing Oswego improve to 9-5 on the year while the Cardinals drop to 7-6.
Sophomore
Ariel Murawski led all hitters with 16 kills in the tilt, just three shy of her career-high, set last year against SUNY Poly. Senior captain
Meaghan Roefs had a stellar outing, finishing with the second-most Laker kills with 11 while blocking a match-high five attack attempts. Aiding Roefs on defense were classmate
Megan Russell and sophomore
Alison Sullivan, blocking four and three, respectively. Russell was also effective on offense, earning just one-kill shy of double digits.
Junior
Rina Qelaj set a new career-high while leading the team in passing, collecting 21 digs on the night.
Emma Moriarty chipped in 20 digs while senior classmate
Lauren Edwards tallied 18. Edwards set a team-high 22 assists with classmate
Lindsey Champitto tossing in 20 helpers.
Oswego will continue with pool play on Saturday, opening with New Paltz at 10 a.m. before a 12:30 matchup with Geneseo.
