PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team fell to the Plattsburgh Cardinals, 1-0, in overtime on Friday afternoon and is now 4-3-2 on the year; it is 1-2-0 in the conference. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are now 6-4-0 and 2-0-0 in the SUNYAC.
Defense starred in the contest with neither team able to tally a goal throughout regulation and the first eight-plus minutes of overtime. Oswego played aggressive overall and was particularly strong defending in the second-45. The team kept the ball away from Plattsburgh while limiting its shots taken to just three.
Offensively, the Lakers managed to attempt nine shots with five on-goal.
Nicole Perniciaro was credited with two, while the other three came off the feet of
Chloe Lonergan,
Alexa Restante and
Sarah Grupp. Oswego also earned three corner kicks in the contest.
Melissa Siegfried clocked the entirety of the game in the goal and tallied a season-high six saves.
Women's soccer returns to action for a second day of conference action as it travels to Potsdam to take on the Bears beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
