ASTON, Pa. – The nationally-ranked Oswego State women's ice hockey team rallied from two, one-goal deficits on Saturday to down host Neumann University 3-2.
Kate Randazzo's goal with 1:20 left in regulation was the difference, elevating the Lakers to 14-3-0 overall and 8-2-0 in the ECAC West. The host Knights are now 6-10-1, 2-7-1.
Oswego scored the tilt's final two goals to capture the victory after trailing 2-1 entering the final period. It started with a power-play goal from
Alexa Aramburu at 4:02 to even the score.
Kendall Appelbaum and
Olivia Ellis were credited with assists on the extra-skater tally.
Aramburu's equalizing goal made way for Randazzo's game-winner at 18:40. The Lakers' only even-strength goal of the afternoon,
Eryn Stewart and
Andrea Noss found the freshman for the deciding notch.
After one period, Oswego faced a one-goal deficit as Neumann scored the game's first goal 29 seconds into the first. The Lakers took advantage of a Knights' infraction early in the middle period, as Appelbaum recorded a power-play goal for her first of two points on the day. Appelbaum's tally came at 1:21 of the second period on helpers from
Alli Ullrich and
Olivia Ellis.
In goal,
Mariah Madrigal made 19 saves for the 11th victory of her career.
Oswego will return to the ice for competition at 3 p.m. on Friday when it hosts Potsdam for its annual Teal Game in the Marano Campus Center Arena.
