ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The No. 9/14 Oswego State baseball team split a doubleheader with the New Paltz Hawks at Bard College's Honey Field on Monday afternoon. Oswego moves to 13-5 and 4-1 in the SUNYAC, while New Paltz is now 8-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Game One: New Paltz 7, Oswego 5
Oswego took an early 4-1 lead in the first game after it scored two runs in both the third and fourth innings. Senior

Kevin Hylas and
Lukas Olsson by slapping a single in the third. In the latter frame,
Eli Holton scored on an error, while Olsson made his way around the diamond again, scoring on a
John Barnes walk.
The Hawks did their biggest damage in the sixth, scoring three runs to take a 5-4 lead. After Olsson tied the game in the top half of seventh with a sacrifice fly, Dwayne Page would answer with an RBI-single for what would eventually be the game-winning run.
Eric Hamilton and Holton led the way with two hits apiece as the Laker offense produced five runs on nine hits. Olsson earned two walks and scored twice, while
Kevin Hylas and
Zach Kollar each notched a base knock.
On the bump,
Mitchell Cavanagh pitched 5.1 innings and struck out three batters. Classmate,
Robert Donnelly came into the game in relief and pitched the final 2.2 innings. He was tagged with the loss, while also ringing up three Hawks.
Game Two: Oswego 6, New Paltz 2 (7 inn.)
Donnelly appeared in the field and batting order in game two and sparked the Laker scoring, driving in Simmons in the third. Later in the contest, Donnelly drove in an insurance run, again scoring Simmons to give Oswego its sixth run.
Also in the third,
Mike Dellicarri knocked in his first RBI of the game in the form of
Alex Brown. He would repeat the action in the fifth with a sacrifice fly, which scored Brown. The latter notched two hits and two runs scored in his plate time.
Zach Kollar and
Eric Hamilton drove in the other two Laker tallies in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively. Kollar slapped an RBI groundout to third, while Hamilton ripped a double to the gap in left-center field.
Tim Cronin improved to 5-0 on the season with another solid performance on the mound. He dealt 6.1 innings, scattering nine hits and allowing just two earned.
