Josh Hoagland came home from third after reaching on a fielder's choice and stealing second earlier in the inning. He moved to third on a pair of walks that granted Matt Deblasio and
Zach Whelan spaces on the base paths.
During the following at-bat,
Eric Hamilton slapped a single through the right side of the infield to score Whelan and Deblasio and give the Lakers a 3-0 lead.
The Continentals answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the contest at 3-3. In the top of the sixth, a
John Barnes sacrifice fly returned the lead to Oswego and scored the game's seventh run. After neither team scored through three frames, they tallied 12 runs over the following four innings.
Lukas Olsson scored on the fly out after he singled through the left side, stole second and moved to third on an infield hit by Whelan. Barnes also added a base hit and earned a walk on the day.
Oswego notched another tally and its final run of the game in the top of the seventh. Hoagland doubled down the left-field line and eventually scored on a passed ball. After the Lakers claimed a 5-3 lead, Hamilton exploded for four runs in the bottom of the frame and never looked back.
