OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team started off its season with a 9-0 loss to perennial powerhouse Geneseo. The Lakers fall to 0-1 on the season and in SUNYAC play, while Geneseo moves to 1-0 for both.
During singles play, the highlight was
Haru Kobayashi's match against Jenn Buckhout. Kobayashi dropped the first set 6-2, but won set two 6-3 to force a super set, which Buckhout eventually won 10-5.
For doubles,
Lorrayne Broach and
Bridget Bender played a close match against Cate Gluchowski and Gretchen Ayoub. Eventually, the pair fell to Geneseo with a score of 9-7.
The Lakers will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 9 when they face Wells College in Aurora, N.Y.
