WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- The Oswego State wrestling team split a pair of dual matches at the NY/PA Duals hosted by King's College.  Oswego defeated King's 47-9 before dropping a close 24-17 decision to Lycoming.  Oswego's record moves to 2-2 on the season in dual matches.
 
In the opener against King's, Oswego was led by a trio of pins.  At 149, junior Rocco Russo pinned his opponent at the 1:41 mark and at 165, sophomore Alex Herringshaw bettered that time with a pin at the 46-second mark.  The final pin came at 184 as Jeff Lombardi pinned his opponent at the 2:24 mark.  Oswego's other points came from a technical fall (17-0) by Joey Bush at 157 and four forfeits.
 
In the second dual of the day, Oswego got off to a strong start with decisions at 125 and 133.  Sophomore Hunter Howland scored a 22-11 major decision over Lycoming's Cameron Terry while 2017 National Qualifier Evan Corso won by a 13-6 score over Eric Hunt.
 
Lycoming would win close matches at the next three weight classes to grab momentum.  Junior Justin DeLucia fell by a 5-3 decision to Ethan Landis at 141 and Bush at 157 by a 4-2 outcome.  At 149, junior Rocco Russo fell to D3Wrestle.com's tenth-ranked grappler, Trevor Corl, by 3-0 decision.
 
Herringshaw scored another pin at 165, this time in only 27 seconds over Kevin Keppler of Lycoming.  At 174, both Troy Seymour of Oswego and Brandon Conrad of Lycoming were listed just outside of the top-ten in the latest rankings and the match lived up to the hype with a close, low-scoring 2-0 decision in Conrad's favor.
 
Lombardi scored the Lakers' final points with an 8-7 decision over Kyle Bennett at 184.  Lycoming won at 197 and 285 by forfeit to seal the win.
 
Oswego is back in action when they travel to Lycoming College on January 12-13 for the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals.
