Myers Clutch in Lakers' Double-Overtime Win

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Oswego State women's soccer team finds its way back into the win column after claiming a double-overtime matchup at Buffalo State on Friday. Mackenzie Schaffner tallied two goals in the Lakers victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite going down 1-0 just 20 minutes into the contest, the Lakers rallied back, beginning with a Mackenzie Schaffner goal, as she was able to use her head for a tally at 31:38.
  • Schaffner's goal was assisted by freshman Liz Myers, who fed her the ball on a cross from the left corner.
  • The Bengals would take the lead once more, as Kyndal Hetzel capitalized off a free-kick 11 minutes into the second half.
  • Schaffner would tie the game up once again, as she was able to find the back of the net, this time aided by Audrey Burbidge. The Baldwinsville, N.Y. native leads the team in goals, with a tally of five.
  • Burbidge's assist was tallied, as she sent a shot into the box that was deflected into the feet of Schaffner. The senior leads the team in assists with four.
  • Liz Myers collected two more points on the day, as she was able to notch the game-winning goal in the second overtime period, as she collected a Lynsey Roth ball at the post. This is the Monroe, N.Y. native's first collegiate goal.
  • Goalkeeper Emma Allen made three saves for the Lakers.
WHATS NEXT
The Lakers remain on the road as they travel to Fredonia for a conference matchup slated to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
