OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams won against Potsdam in dual meet action on Saturday's Senior Day. The men dominated by a 152-94 score while the women were equally impressive in a 164-114 triumph. The men remain unbeaten in head-to-head meets at 10-0 while the women move out to 8-2 on the season.
One school record fell today as freshman
Miranda Frascatore set a new mark in the women's 1-meter diving with a score of 264.40 while winning the event. She also took care of business in the 3-meter diving by scoring 231.35 to place first in that event.
Oswego got out to a strong start by posting wins in the first four events. The 400 Yard Medley Relay team of
Kayla Merrill,
Emily Ross,
Riley Synan, and
Hannah Jensen touched the wall at 4:17.84 to earn the first win. Ross (11:54.38) would bring home the 1000 yard freestyle win, Synan (2:05.59) would take the top spot in the 200 yard freestyle, and Merrill (1:04.05) would inch past teammate
Kelsey Oliverio (1:05.19) in the 100 yard backstroke.
Other event winners include Oswego State Women's Athlete of the Week Gi Gi Hon who would ease to wins in the 200 yard fly (2:19.73) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:40.62) and junior
Hannah Jensen would take the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.80 seconds. Oliverio handily won the 100 yard fly (1:02.35), Synan won the 400 yard IM (5:03.57), and the Oswego 400 yard freestyle relay team of Oliverio,
Jill Leahy, Hon, and Jensen won the last event in 3:54.36.
On the men's side, the Lakers won all sixteen events on the afternoon.
Daniel Rodriguez took part in four event wins as he won the 1000 yard freestyle (9:57.13), the 500 yard freestyle (4:52.80), the 400 yard IM (4:27.57) and anchired the 400 yard freestyle relay team (3:18.90).
Lakers who won multiple events include
Alex Davie (50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle),
JJ Alaniz (200 yard breaststroke, 200 yard freestyle) and
Luis Perez (100 yard breaststroke, 200 yard backstroke). Senior
Alex Kemper won the 100 yard fly in a time of 58.21 seconds and
Walker Snowden won the 200 yard fly in 2:08.30.
Senior
Luke Snyder scored 251.35 points on the 3-meter diving board and 251.50 on the 1-meter board in his final home performance as a Laker.
Both teams are off until the SUNYAC Championships from Feb. 21-24 in Buffalo, N.Y.'s Erie Community College.
