CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell to No. 1 Cortland, 13-10, in the semifinals of the SUNYAC Championship on Wednesday evening. Oswego ends its season with a 10-5 overall record, its best record since the 1996 season.

Trailing 4-1 after the first quarter, Oswego kept pace with Cortland in the second, as both teams added on two goals each. With an 11-6 deficit after the third, the Lakers put together a strong final push. Two man-up goals for Oswego made it an 11-8 game with 10:50 remaining. Cortland managed two goals of its own, but the Lakers tacked on two more in the final two minutes before the game ended, bringing it to its final score of 13-10.

Offensively, Bobby Emerson and Tim Schof tied for a game-high five points. Emerson scored four of the Laker goals and collected an assist, while Schof scored one goal and dished out four assists. Kyle Bacon earned a hat trick as well, recording three goals. Mark Niechcial and Caleb Alford rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.

In the net, goalie Kevin O'Donnell played all 60 minutes. The freshman made 15 saves to bring his save percentage to .536 on the day.

As a team, Oswego was successful in 14 of its 18 clear attempts. During the contest, the Lakers particularly excelled when taking advantage of man-up opportunities; Oswego capitalized on three of its four chances while Cortland only scored on one of its three opportunities.
