NEWTON, Mass. – The Oswego State women's soccer team began its 2018 campaign with a victory at Lasell College in Newton, Mass. on Friday afternoon. It is the third-straight season the Lakers opened their season with a win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lasell scored first at 20:19 on an unassisted goal from Melissa Vaquez.
- After halftime, Oswego evened the game on a Corinna Chambers goal at 63:50. It was the junior's first collegiate goal.
- Mackenzie Schaffner assisted on the goal, the sophomore's first of the year and second of her career.
- Schaffner was not done as she recorded the game-winning goal a little more than six minutes later. It represented her second goal in a Laker uniform.
- Goalie Emma Allen played all 90 minutes between the pipes, making six saves in the triumph.
- Oswego outshot the Lasers 12-7 in on-goal attempts despite taking one less corner kick (5-4).
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers travel to Fredonia, N.Y. to take part in the Blue Devils' tournament. Oswego opens with Grove City College at 1 p.m. on Friday.
