OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team defeated the SUNY Canton Kanagroos 6-2 in the championship game of the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lakers came out of the dressing room swinging, Anthony Passero found the back of the net 28 seconds into the contest. Passero's tally was assisted by Michael Gillespie and Tyler Currie.
- Tanner Spink extended Oswego's lead to two as he recorded a power play goal at 6:51, aided by Max Novick and Josh Zizek.
- Spink would score once more before the end of the opening period, after Novick sent a saucer pass to Zizek at the left faceoff circle, who ultimately dished it to a waiting Spink in front of the net. The sophomore's goal came with seconds left on the power play.
- The Kangaroos finally made the board, opening the second period with a tally, as Reily McIntosh sent the puck top shelf for a power play goal. The score would remain 3-1 for the rest of the period.
- For his fourth goal of the season, Mitch Emerson benefitted from a cluster in front of the net on the Laker power play. The junior's goal was helped along by Spink and Zizek.
- Former-Laker Tyson Bruce scored his first goal against Oswego on a power play. Bruce used a crowed goal line to beat the goalie top shelf.
- Travis Broughman made his way onto the score sheet, on an attempted breakaway in which he was held by the defense, drawing a penalty and notching an unassisted goal at 16:54.
- Josh Nenadal sealed the Laker victory as he sent the puck soaring down the ice and into the empty Kangaroo net with 14 seconds remaining in the contest.
- Goaltender David Richer padded away 18 Canton shots.
- The Lakers owned a 42-20 advantage in shots on goal, and went 3-for-7 on the power play.
- Richer and Gillespie were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Spink earned All-Tournament Most Valuable Player honor.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lakers return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, as they face off against Nazareth College at Allyn Ice Arena in Skaneateles to support Griffin's Guardians. Griffin's Guardians is a Cicero-based non-profit that supports children suffering from pediatric cancer.
