OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State volleyball team pushed visiting Brockport to the brink in a 3-2 defeat on Friday evening. Oswego had three match points before the Golden Eagles made their comeback.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, Brockport went on a 8-2 run to turn a 10-8 close set into an 18-10 lead.
- Oswego countered with a 7-0 run behind tough serving from sophomore Skylar Bechard.
- Down 24-22, the Lakers would get a pair of blocks and an ace from Bechard to steal the opener 28-26.
- Brockport rebounded in the second and third sets by out-hitting the Lakers 28-14 in kills.
- Behind 18 kills, including five from senior Shauna O'Flaherty and four each from Melissa Lussier and freshman Sydney Chiffriller, Oswego prevailed 25-23.
- Oswego was able to take an 8-4 lead into the switch of sides in the final frame when seniors Shannon Stone and Julia Flohr combined for a block.
- The Lakers had match points at 14-12, 14-13, and 15-14, but each time Brockport was able to extend the match and eke out a 17-15 victory.
- Lussier (15 kills, 16 digs), O'Flaherty (13 kills, 12 digs) and Flohr (42 assists, 15 digs) all recorded double-doubles in the match.
- Junior Libero Emily Costa had 23 digs and Bechard had 15.
- Senior Lauren Fie had 10 kills and eight blocks.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego returns to Max Ziel tomorrow and will honor seniors Flohr, Fie,
Sarah Massie, O'Flaherty and Stone at 1 p.m. before taking on conference-leader Geneseo in the final match of conference action prior to the SUNYAC Championships.
