CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer dropped a contest at Cortland on Saturday afternoon, despite owning advantages in shots on-goal (8-7) and corner-kick opportunities (3-2). An unassisted goal in each half was the difference between the Lakers and Red Dragons.
THE BASICS
- Result: Cortland 2, Oswego 0
- Location: Holloway Field – Cortland, N.Y.
- Records: Cortland 5-4-1 (2-0-1 SUNYAC) | Oswego 2-9-0 (0-3-0 SUNYAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Maggie Riordan led all players with four shots on-target, accounting for half of the Laker total.
- Two of Riordan's shots came in a tight span, as Oswego peppered the Cortland goalie with three shots on-goal over 2:19 of game. Riordan's classmate Graisa Madden has the other shot during that barrage, which were the final three on-goal attempts in the first half.
- Madden was joined by seniors Hannah Almy and Gianna Perri and junior Lynsey Roth with one shot on-goal apiece to round out the other four Laker chances.
- Goalie Emma Allen was tabbed with the loss between the pipes but stopped five shots from the Red Dragons.
- Cortland's first goal came at 19:13 as a shot deflected off Allen into the back of the net. The final tally came at 78:38 on a loose-ball, one-timer.
