CASTLETON, Vt. -- The Oswego State women's ice hockey team used the power play to their advantage, scoring all three goals on power-play opportunities, in their 3-2 victory over Castleton.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Freshman Megan Teachout opened the game's scoring in the second period off assists from Amber Thomas and Eryn Stewart. The goal marked Teachout's second goal in as many games and Stewart's third assist of the season. 
• Less than a minute later, Bailey Thomas and Avery Webster connected with Morgan Shines for Shines' first collegiate goal, extending the Lakers' lead to two.
• Castleton would respond with two goals including one on the power play to even the score.
• With 2:27 remaining in regulation, senior Eryn Stewart tallied the game-winning goal. Kate Randazzo and Philomena Teggart recorded assists on the play.
• Rachael Farmer earned the win in goal, matching her saves total from Friday's matchup with 18. 
• Outside of Castleton's one power-play goal, the Lakers held off the Spartans in their six other power play opportunities. 
• Oswego held the lead in shots (48-20) while Castleton won more faceoffs (32-28). 
• Thomas led Oswego with 15 faceoffs won. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will begin NEWHL play on Friday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Plattsburgh to take on the Cardinals.
