HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was a great start for Oswego as senior Michael Gillespie put the team up 1-0 just seven minutes into the contest.
  • Gillespie's goal was via the power play and assists went to Max Novick and Anthony Passero.
  • Three and a half minutes later, senior Mitch Emerson added a second goal for the Lakers on an assist from Tanner Spink.
  • Salve Regina was able to cut into the deficit at the 14-minute mark with their own power play tally.
  • Early in the second period, the Seahawks tied it up on their second power play opportunity.
  • Oswego got two more power play chances in the period and capitalized on the latter with a goal from Travis Broughman at 17:23.
  • His goal was assisted by Emerson and behind 15 saves from Cedric Hansen through the first two periods, had the Lakers primed for the upset.
  • After a pair of penalties on both teams early in the third, Salve Regina scored on a 4-on-4 opportunity just 1:26 into the final stanza.
  • The Seahawks poured in three more goals in the next 11 minutes to cement the game.
  • Oswego won the faceoff battle (31-28) led by Passero (9), Emerson (8) and senior Josh Zizek (8).
  • The Lakers outshot Salve Regina by a 41-26 margin led by Broughman's seven chances.
  • The game was a rematch of last season's opening game of the Pathfinder Classic, with Oswego prevailing 6-2.
