UTICA, N.Y. – The No. 9 Oswego State men's ice hockey team scored three goals in the opening period and didn't look back in an 8-0 rout of Plymouth State. This finished their appearance at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Thanksgiving Showcase hosted by Utica College, taking third place as
David Richer earned his seventh career shutout in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oswego opened the scoring at 5:12 of the first with a beautiful back door pass from Alex DiCarlo for his first career NCAA point, setting up Mitch Emerson for his fourth goal of the year and his third point of the tournament.
- Late in the period, Tyson Kirkby scored his second goal of the season and fourth career on the powerplay, assisted by Travis Broughman and Anthony Passero.
- Derek Brown scored his first goal of the season only one minute and one second apart from Kirkby to put Oswego up 3-0 at the end of the first period.
- The Lakers dominated in the first period, quadrupling Plymouth State's shots with a total of 21-5.
- Joseph Molinaro showed his playmaking ability in finding Josh Zizek for a wide open net to get the team's fourth goal of the game, 7:29 in to the second.
- Less than two minutes after setting up Zizek, Molinaro got one of his own, assists to Kirkby and Zizek.
- The Lakers continued their offensive onslaught improving their shots margin to an advantage of 41-14 after two periods.
- The Lakers wasted no time putting another in the net in the third period when Max Novick scored at 1:06, assisted by Broughman and Passero.
- One minute and thirty-three seconds after their sixth goal, Colton Fletcher ripped a power play goal home, assisted by DiCarlo and Carson Vance.
- Passero dished a beauty across ice for a one-timer by Michael Gillespie for their third goal in just two minutes and thirty-four seconds to begin the third period.
- Along with the dominant offensive sequences, Oswego doubled Plymouth State in face-offs 40-20, leading the way was Passero with a win percentage of 74%.
- Facing 21 shots, Lakers senior Richer had no problems earning his seventh career shutout for the Lakers.
- Oswego continued to show confidence on the power play converting on 50% of their man-advantages and have now scored five power play goals in the past two contests.
- Broughman (5 goals, 5 assists) and Passero (1 goal, 9 assists) are now tied for the points lead for the Lakers with 10 each.

Oswego will travel to western New York to take on the Buffalo State Bengals December 6 at 7 p.m.
