Conboy's Game-Winner Pushes Win Streak to Four

CANTON N.Y. – Freshman Mia Conboy earned her first collegiate goal as she lifted the Lakers to a 2-1 victory over SUNY Canton and the team's fourth win in a row. Her game-winner gives the Lakers their sixth consecutive NEWHL contest without a loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Canton started off the scoring in the first period at 12:04.
  • Oswego went to work quickly in the second period, tying the game just one minute and fifteen seconds into the second stanza. Eryn Stewart (2) picked up the tying goal with Philomena Teggart (5) and Megan Teachout (6) getting the assists.
  • With a shot from the point by Teggart, Mia Conboy deflected the puck into the top corner for her first career goal which was the game-deciding goal with only 16 seconds remaining in the second period.
  • Junior Aislinn McAleer picked up an assist on Conboy's goal, her first of the season.
  • Rachael Farmer stood tall in stopping 13-of-14 shots she faced, making this her fourth consecutive start without a loss.  The senior has made 90 saves in those four games combined.
  • The Lakers finished the game by doubling the Kangaroos in shots, with a 28-14 edge.
  • Oswego took the advantage in the face-off circle (23-21) with Amber Thomas winning 10 draws on the night.
  • Oswego won their fourth NEWHL game in a row for the first time since the 2015-16 season and the run gives the Lakers a chance to take sole possession of second place in the NEWHL standings heading into the break.
  • The Oswego penalty kill was perfect on the night in stopping all six power-play opportunities for the 'Roos.
WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will return home on Sunday, December 8 to face-off against the Amherst Mammoths at 3 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
