HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals were first to get on the board at 13:14 in the first period, as Cheyenne Matson was able to convert with 23 seconds remaining on the power play, sending the puck sailing top shelf on the Laker goaltender.
  • Buffalo opened the second period with a tally, just 39 second in as Lila Toczek was able to beat Rachael Farmer on the goal line.
  • The Lakers looked to make it 2-1 as Leah Czerwinski was given a penalty shot with 17.3 seconds remaining in the middle period, as she was tripped up going for the goal. The sophomore's penalty shot was stopped by the stick of Bri Gawronski which then deflected wide.
  • Padden found her way onto the score sheet as she sent a wrist shot soaring into the back of the goal. The Cranford, N.J. native was fed by Bailey Thomas from the blue line, receiving the puck at the left faceoff circle. Aislinn McAleer also earned an assist on the Laker score.
  • The Bengals answered back 12 minutes later as a Buffalo shot from the blue line was stopped by Farmer, only to be taken off her pads and fed to Madeline Kromer, the eventual goal scorer.
  • The Grand Island, N.Y. native was pulled with 50 seconds remaining in the final stanza, as the Lakers opted for a sixth skater. Farmer recorded 22 saves during her time between the pipes.
