POTSDAM, N.Y. – The No. 3/3 Oswego State men's ice hockey team set its place in the SUNYAC Championship, as it was victorious in its outing with the Bears, claiming a 3-2 victory. Defenseman
Max Novick let his mark on each of the Lakers' tallies, with a team-high three points.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Oswego 3, Potsdam 2
Location: Maxcy Ice Arena – Potsdam, N.Y.
Records: Oswego 18-4-2 (11-3-1 SUNYAC) I Potsdam 7-16-1 (3-11-1 SUNYAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took less than half of the opening period for the Lakers to score, as Josh Nenadal was able to redirect a Novick power play shot from the point, putting it stick side on the Potsdam goalie.
- Tanner Spink added another Oswego power play goal to the score sheet less than four minutes in the middle stanza, deflecting Anthony Passero's shot from the right faceoff circle, which was fed from Novick.
- The last Laker tally was recorded by assistant-captain Josh Zizek, again on the power play, when Novick sent the puck on-goal from the blue line, which was then rebounded by Passero and dished to Zizek.
- Two late Bear tallies would eliminate David Richer's chances of a shutout, but was not enough to complete a Potsdam comeback.
- Richer had 28 saves between the pipes in his 59:44 minutes played.
- Oswego owned an advantage in shots, 33-30.
