THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first period, Oswego used a three-goal second period to propel it to a conference victory, led by Sara Cruise's tally 23 seconds into the stanza. Cruise was dealt the puck by Annika Neufeld-Kreider who won along the boards in a scrum, before she skated the whole length of the ice, scoring with a backhanded lift over the goalie's shoulder. Bailey Thomas also recorded an assist on the goal.
  • Junior Eryn Stewart notched what would be the eventual game-winner six minutes later, as she intercepted a Bears' pass as she exited the bench, starting a break away in which she beat the goalie 1-on-1, drawing her let than shooting right.
  • The Lakers' third tally was recorded Katelynn Ferguson, who beat the goalie stick side for the insurance tally at 10:40. Ferguson's goal was the result of a Natalie Giglo pass from behind the net to Emma Morisette, whose shot was saved and rebound for the score.
  • Just four minutes shy of her fourth shutout of the season, Rachael Farmer was beat by a Bears' rip from the blue line, Potsdam's only tally of the game.
  • For good measure, Leah Czerwinski sealed the Laker victory with an empty net goal that she initiated in Oswego's zone. Molly Evans earned her first collegiate point on the score, while captain Kate Randazzo added her name to the score sheet.
  • Farmer recorded 17 saves in her fifth victory of the season.
  • The Lakers owned advantages in shots (57-33), shots on-goal (25-19) and faceoff wins 28-20.
