Four Run 7th Helps Oswego to Win on Spring Break

LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Oswego State baseball team opened its spring break trip with a 6-3 win over the Roger Williams University Hawks.

THE BASICS
  • Result: Oswego 6, Roger Williams 3
  • Location: Lexington, S.C.
  • Records: Oswego (2-2), RWU (3-5)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lakers starter, junior Jake Terrill, was dominate from the mound through three innings, striking out seven RWU batters.
  • After trailing RWU through three innings, the Lakers responded in the fifth. A single from freshman Paul Tammaro scored senior Matt Deblasio from third and junior Justion Troelstra from second, off a RWU error.
  • In the seventh inning, after a Deblasio walk, pinch-hitter Jonathan Luppens hit for a double, advancing Deblasio to third. With the bases loaded after an intentional walk to Rocco Leone, Ryan Enos walked, bringing in a run for the Lakers and tying the game at 3-3.
  • Tammaro, senior Mike Dellicarri and junior Lukas Olsson put the Lakers ahead, each driving in a runner each.
  • The Lakers strong pitching performance continued in the ninth inning with senior Bobby Zywicki striking out all three batters that he faced.
  • Tammaro finished 4-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base.

The Lakers return tomorrow as they look to keep the momentum going against SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh in a single nine-inning game at 5 p.m.
