HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- The Lakers took control right away with a run in the first. Emily Knowlden doubled to put runners on second and third with one out and Frampton grounded out to score Vilchez.
- Oswego broke the game wide open in the second inning with another six runs. Singles by Zoe Mennig, Aleah Yaizzo, Leah Czerwinski and Erin Sweeney brought in the first two runs. Vilchez smacked a double to right-center to plate two more. After a fielder's choice that put Knowlden aboard but forced Vilchez out, Frampton walked. In the next at-bat, Madelana Wrubel tripled to put Oswego up 7-0.
- The big lead was more than enough for Vilchez and Frampton as they combined to allow just six hits in the five innings while striking out three. Frampton (1-2) earned the win while cutting her season's earned run average in half.
- On offense, Mennig and Vilchez each had a pair of hits while Sweeney reached base in all three of her trips to the plate. In all, 10 different Lakers recorded a hit in the game, with Claire Hewitt, Casey Gray and Brianna LoMonaco each connecting for their first hits of the young season.
Game 2
- It was another great start for the Lakers against Babson as Knowlden doubled in Sweeney and Frampton singled home Vilchez in the first to put Oswego up 2-0 after one.
- Babson scored three in the bottom half and three more in the third, with five of the six scored unearned to put the Beavers up 6-2.
- After another two runs by Babson made it 8-2 heading into the final frame, Oswego scored three runs when Frampton and Wrubel led off the inning with singles. Jessica Roe loaded the bases when she reached on an error and Mennig brought the first run on a fielder's choice. Singles by McCullough and Sweeney made it 8-5 with the tying run at the plate, but a deep fly-out to right field ended the rally.
- The 3-4-5 hitters for Oswego (Knowlden, Frampton and Wrubel) combined to go 7-for-11 in the game.
- Oswego outhit Babson 11-to-8 but the Lakers left 12 on the base paths.
- Knowlden raised her batting average to .556 after the day, while her and Sweeney are both reaching base at an impressive pace. Knowlden reaches base 61.9% of the time while Sweeney does so 54.5%.
- Freshmen Brianna Harrington (1-1) and Jessica Annello combined to allow just two earned runs in 5.1 innings of work, with Annello striking out a pair. Frampton recorded the final two Beaver outs by strikeout in the bottom of the sixth to help start the Oswego rally.
