Regin Scores Four in Loss to Brockport

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team assumed its first conference loss of the season against Brockport at home on Wednesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
  • Result: Brockport 16, Oswego 9
  • Location: Laker Turf Stadium – Oswego, N.Y.
  • Records: Brockport 5-1 (1-0 SUNYAC)  |  Oswego 4-2 (1-1 SUNYAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Brigid Regin led the Laker offense with four goals in the tilt, bringing her season total to 22. Regin's two first-half goals cut the Oswego deficit to just 3-1 and 6-3, but that was the smallest the Lakers would shrink the margin for the remainder of the contest.
  • Joining Regin in the goal column were Molly Beck, Kamryn Sherman and Montana Garrett. Beck and Sherman each scored twice, with Sherman's final tally coming from Teresa Shattuck on an extra-player opportunity.
  • Garrett's lone goal was an impressive score on a free-position shot, battling through three Golden Eagle defenders at the crease to cash-in high past the goalie.
  • Shattuck finished with two assists in the game while tying Beck for a team-high three draw controls.
  • On defense, Danielle Walker paced the Lakers with three caused turnovers, while Regin, Molly Martinichio, Lacey Cowles, Riley Jaquin and Marisa Engelbrecht each had one.
  • Oswego recorded one more ground ball than Brockport, paced by Regin and Toni Laneve's three apiece.
  • Over the course of the 60-minute game, Oswego took as many shots as the Golden Eagles (28-28).
  • Elianna Sanchez made eight saves in the loss while Paige Noel made an appearance in goal for the Lakers.
WHAT'S NEXT

Oswego will look to bounce back into the win column in a road contest when it takes on No. 15 Cortland at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
