Oswego Drops Close Contest at Geneseo

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team dropped a close 13-11 SUNYAC matchup at Geneseo on Wednesday evening.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights started the first 30 minutes with a six-goal run, before the Lakers answered with two tallies of their own. Geneseo owned a 7-2 lead heading into the second stanza. 
  • Teresa Shattuck and Toni Laneve accounted for the pair of goals. Junior Montana Garrett aided on Laneve's goal with 45 seconds remaining in the opening half.
  • Igniting a pair of three-goal runs for the Lakers was Brigid Regin, who opened the second half with an unassisted tally.
  • Laneve and Shattuck completed the first run, scoring within a minute of each other. Shattuck assisted on Laneve's tally at 27:27.
  • The Lakers' second three-goal run happened in a five-minute span, as Kassidy Myers, Kamryn Sherman and Molly Beck all notched goals. Regin aided on Myers and Beck's goals, while Shattuck helped along Sherman. Beck's goal tied the game at 8-8.
  • Completing her hat trick with 12:15 remaining in the contest, Laneve recorded a free position tally to knot the game at nine.
  • Garrett closed out the game with a pair of goals, the first of which leveled the score board at 10-10 with 8:30 remaining in the contest. The latter of the Buchanan, N.Y. native's scores came on the free position shot.
  • In goal, Elianna Sanchez made 11 saves, playing all 60 minutes.
  • Oswego went 17-for-23 on the clear attempt.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers remain on the road as they travel to conference rival Plattsburgh for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
