Lakers Dominate Cardinals on the Road

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team downed the Plattsburgh Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. Teresa Shattuck's team-high seven points ties her for first in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lakers were quick to make the board as Montana Garrett scored in the opening two minutes of the contest, assisted by Shattuck.
  • The Cardinals answered 36 seconds later, knotting the game at 1-1. Oswego answered the tally with three goals. Toni Laneve owned two, while Kamryn Sherman owned one. Shattuck aided on both of Laneve's goals.
  • After another tally by the hosts at 24:45, the Lakers went on a 13-goal run to close out the first half. In the impressive run, seven different athletes scored.
  • Leading the charge was Garrett, Sherman, Brigid Regin, Molly Beck and Riley Jaquin, who each recorded two scores in the 24 minute period. Camille O'Kane and Kassidy Myers had one apiece.
  • Beck started the second half with a goal, helped along by Shattuck at 28:28 to make the score 18-2.
  • Laneve completed her hat trick two minutes later, her 24th of the season.
  • Riley LaCava penciled her named onto the stat sheet at 23:42, as her goal was assisted by Shattuck, putting the Lakers up 20-2.
  • Plattsburgh was able to break through the Oswego defense, recording two goals in a two-minute span, for its last scores of the game.
  • Notching her first goal of the season was Erin Lehmann at 14:36. Lehmann's tally was unassisted.  
  • Another unassisted scorer, Haley Call made the score board at 10:35.
  • Owning the last Laker goal was Mikala Fredette with her man-up, free position goal at 3:18. This was Fredette's first collegiate goal.
  • Starting goalie Elianna Sanchez appeared in goal for 49:30, making one save.
  • Paige Noel found her way into the net, playing in 10:30, while turning away one Cardinal shot.
  • Oswego dominated the score sheet, owning advantages in shots and shots on-goal (33-9, 29-6), ground balls (21-9) and draw control wins (17-2).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, as they host the Buffalo State Bengals for a SUNYAC contest.
