OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team opened its spring slate with a loss to Brockport on Friday evening. The Lakers earned their points on wins in the singles portion of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haru Kobayashi began the winning for the Lakers, claiming her second-slotted singles matchup. The senior won the first set in a close 6-4 bout, before blanking her opponent 6-0 in the second.
- Eliza Johnson followed suit in the third slot, bouncing back from a 6-1 loss in the first set to beat the Golden Eagles' Heather Phillips, 6-1, 6-3.
- Falling just short in the first singles slot was Lorrayne Broach who claimed the first set 6-4, dropped the second 6-4 and ultimately succumbed to the Golden Eagle 7-5 in the third.
- Oswego was tough in the doubles portion, falling by four or less in each of its matchups. The pairings of Kobayashi and Vargo, Lydia Houser and Alesha Pilon lost in close 8-5 sets.

The Lakers return to action at 4 p.m. on Monday as they host Daemen College at Romney Tennis Courts.
