CORTLAND, N.Y. - For the second-straight game, the Oswego State baseball team dropped a low scoring contest to conference-leader Cortland, this time by a 3-2 margin. Pitchers
Brian Nolan and
Matt Bowman kept Cortland well below their scoring average (8.6 runs/game) and the defense played error-free to give the Lakers the chance for the road victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cortland struck first in the bottom of the first on a walk, single and sacrifice fly to go up 1-0.
- The Lakers loaded the bases in the second inning on singles by Lukas Olsson, Brandon Nicholson and Nick Chilson but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
- Oswego broke through in the fourth as Paul Tammaro reach via bunt and moved into scoring position when Casey Gruarin singled to right. Chilson's second single of the day plated Tammaro to knot the game at 1-1.
- The top of the order put the visitors in front in the fifth inning as Ryan Enos reached base when he was hit by a pitch. Mike Dellicarri singled to right field and Olsson reached on an infield single to load them up.
- Nicholson gave the Lakers the 2-1 lead with a sacrifice fly to score Enos.
- The Red Dragons tied it up in the sixth with a run and had bases loaded with two outs before Bowman came on in relief and got the third out via strikeout.
- Dellicarri singled with one out in the seventh and Olsson followed with another single to put runners on first and third. An intentional walk to Nicholson had Oswego poised to retake the lead, but a double play ended the Laker threat.
- It remained 2-2 until the bottom of the ninth when Cortland got a leadoff double that came around for the winning run.
- Nolan went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs and striking our five. Bowman (3-3) takes the loss, pitching 2.1 innings and striking out four.
- At the plate, Chilson was 3-for-3 with a walk and Olsson was 3-for-4.

Oswego returns to the Laker Baseball Field for a 4 p.m. game against non-conference opponent Ithaca College on Tuesday.
