HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Molly Beck kicked things off less than two minutes into the game when she took a pass, spun away from the defender and fired a shot high over the Oneonta goalie's left shoulder.
  • Oneonta paired two goals five minutes later to grab the 2-1 lead.
  • At the 18:55 mark, senior Toni Laneve took a pass just inside the fan from classmate Brigid Regin, spun, and bounced the second Oswego goal home.
  • The Red Dragons answered just 31 seconds later, winning the draw and driving down low for the score and scored again three minutes later to push their lead to 4-2.
  • A minute later, following a timeout, the Lakers swung the ball across the Oneonta defensive zone ending with Kassidy Myers wide open on the back side of the goal to cut it back to 4-3 on an assist from Regin.
  • After a save from junior Elianna Sanchez on the next possession, Oswego cleared and forced a free-position for Riley Jaquin, who converted the opportunity for the tie with just over 13 minutes left in the half.
  • Regin put the Lakers back on top when she leaped to grab a high pass from Shattuck, bouncing a shot in mid-air past the Red Dragons' goalie for the 5-4 lead with just under nine minutes left in the half.
  • A woman-up goal from in front on a catch in traffic for Oneonta made it 5-5 at 7:12 and the Red Dragons scored two minutes later to go back in front.
  • Shattuck took charge late in the half when she drew a double team coming out from behind the goal and hit Myers crossing in front to even it again at 3:18 on the clock.
  • After the defense collapsed on Shattuck again a minute later, she swung a pass to Regin up top who immediately passed down to the edge to senior Montana Garrett.  Garrett cut inside and shot low for the goal.
  • The final goal of the half came with under 30 seconds left when Beck whipped a shot high over the goal that took a friendly bounce off the field netting.  Shattuck scooped it up, took advantage of the quick restart and sprinted out in front, firing a shot inside the far post for an 8-6 lead.
  • The first half featured four ties and five lead changes.
  • Oswego kept the pressure on with the opening goals of the second half as Kamryn Sherman snatched a pass from Shattuck and redirected it home.  Laneve took a similar pass from Shattuck two minutes later for the 10-6 lead.
  • Oneonta answered with three goals in 30 seconds to make it 10-9 with 22:12 on the clock and added the equalizer on a free-position shot one minute later.
  • Regin broke the Red Dragon momentum with a free-position goal at 18:26 and Jaquin added her second goal on a fast-break clear at 16:39 to give the Lakers some breathing room.
  • The next Oswego goal came when Garrett went five-hole after receiving a well-executed pass over the top of the defense from Laneve that set her up on the edge of the goal crease.
  • Beck made it four straight for the Lakers when she came around traffic and fired a shot into the goal with 13:17 remaining.
  • Oneonta and Oswego traded the next six goals, with Jaquin getting one and Shattuck a deuce for a 17-13 lead with 6:13 left on the clock.
  • The Red Dragons got a fluke goal on a missed pass and closed the gap to 17-15 on a goal in front with 1:43 remaining.
  • Senior Danielle Walker and Shattuck combined to secure the next draw and the Lakers kept possession for the entire duration of the shot clock to dash any hopes of an Oneonta comeback.
  • Sanchez finished with seven saves in the contest to pick up the win.
