HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Oswego struck first at the 12:42 mark in the opening quarter on a goal from Kyle Bacon with an assist to Evan Hollfelder.
  • Brockport answered at 5:50 to make the score 1-1 before the Lakers got a goal with just 35 seconds left in the frame as Weston Gray scored on an assist from Jake Piccininni.
  • The Lakers extended the lead to 4-1 early in the second quarter when Dan Doolan and Caleb Alford scored within the first five minutes.  Hollfelder and Piccininni moved their assist totals to two apiece with helpers on those Oswego tallies.
  • Brockport cut the lead back to two with 5:02 remaining in the first half, but Doolan would make it 5-2 a few minutes later when he scored unassisted.
  • Oswego goalie Kevin O'Donnell made eight saves in the first half to smother the Golden Eagle offense and Oswego held the advantage in shots (19-18) and ground balls (15-8) at the half.
  • Brockport looked to gain momentum as it came out for the second half with two-straight goals in the first five minutes to close the deficit to just one at 5-4.
  • At that point, Emerson took over with three goals in a two-minute span and a fourth four minutes later to push Oswego out to a 9-4 advantage.
  • Bacon, Tim Schof, Hollfelder and Gray would each get an assist on Emerson's goals.
  • Hollfelder from Gray at 2:23 would make it 10-4 and a Brockport goal at 1:15 left in the quarter would put Oswego up by five heading into the final 15-minute period.
  • In the fourth, Oswego and Brockport traded goals in the first five minutes with Eric Kiel scoring from Hollfelder for the Lakers.
  • Brockport would add goals at 6:44 and 3:25 to cut the lead to 11-8, but nine saves from O'Donnell during the second half would preserve the victory for Oswego.
