Lakers defeat Bears to Remain Perfect in SUNYAC

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team claimed its second conference game of the season, defeating Potsdam 11-9 on Wednesday evening. Tim Schof paced the Lakers to a victory, recording a team-high five points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • While the Bears opened up a quick 1-0 lead, Kyle Bacon was quick to answer, assisted by Weston Gray less than five minutes into the first quarter.
  • The Lakers tallied three more goals to take a 4-2 lead heading into the second stanza, powered by Schof, Evan Hollfelder and Brian Rowe. Bobby Emerson recorded the lone assist in that span.
  • Schof found his way onto the score sheet once again, notching a goal in the first minute of the second quarter, unassisted. The junior also strung together a pair of assists during the stanza.
  • Gray, Hollfelder and Caleb Alford accounted for the last three scores of the half, with Hollfelder's coming on the man-up opportunity. Alford was helped along by Dan Doolan.
  • Finishing his scoresheet domination with a tally, Schof owned the lone Laker goal in the third quarter, scoring unassisted at 12:35.
  • Emerson, who finished the day with three points, notched two goals, including the game-winner, insuring the Oswego victory.  Hollfelder aided on the insurance tally with 6:20 remaining in the contest.
  • In goal, Kevin O'Donnell held down the defensive end of the field, making 13 saves and collecting two ground balls.
  • Oswego led in the shots and shots on-goal categories (17-8, 12-4) while also owning advantages in ground balls (35-23) and faceoff wins (14-9).
  • Kyle O'Connor accounted for all 14 faceoff wins for the squad, while gathering a team-high six ground balls.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return home for the first time since their home-opener on March 9, hosting the Plattsburgh Cardinals for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
