Lakers Never Trail in Win Over Bears

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team rejoined the win column as it defeated Potsdam 15-11 on Saturday afternoon. Kamryn Sherman led the Laker offense, collecting a career-high five goals, while contributing one assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lakers opened up the game with a quick 3-0 advantage, led by Montana Garrett and Brigid Regin. Regin, with two goals. Teresa Shattuck aided on Garrett's game-opening tally at 26:16.
  • Again on a three-goal run, Oswego pushed its lead to 6-1 as Sherman recorded her first two goals of the contest. Kassidy Myers added a score of her own, all in the opening 10 minutes of the first half. Shattuck assisted on Myers' tally and one of Sherman's.
  • Sherman collected the squad's seventh and eighth tallies and assisted on the team's ninth goal, a helper on Garrett's second goal of the day.
  • Closing out the first half with a goal, Toni Laneve scored with 1:21 remaining on the scoreboard, assisted by classmate Shattuck.
  • To open the second half, Molly Beck collected her 18th goal of the season, unassisted at 25:35, pushing the Laker lead to 11-4.
  • Just under halfway through the final half, Garrett completed her hat trick, recording an unassisted tally at 18:58.
  • Sherman notched her fifth and final goal of the day at 13:34, again assisted by Shattuck to close-out the seven-assist performance.
  • Beck and Riley Jaquin were able to collect goals before the end of the contest, helping Oswego to a 15-11 victory. Jaquin's score was one of the Lakers' only free position goals of the game.
  • Elianna Sanchez made her eighth start of the season, spending 56:08 in goal. Sanchez recorded seven saves in the contest.
  • Paige Noel relieved Sanchez from the goal with 3:52 remaining in the contest.
  • Oswego owned advantages in shots on-goal (27-18) and ground balls (23-20), while going 18-for-20 on the clear attempt.

The Lakers return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, as they travel to Geneseo for another conference matchup.
