OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team fell in a hard fought battle to the Fredonia Blue Devils, 71-52.
Quincey Zimmerman and
Morgan Wolanin stood tall defensively to help keep Oswego in the contest, both earning five blocks. The Lakers tie a team single-game record in blocks tonight with 11. The previous record was set in 2004 and tied one other time in 2005 during a four-overtime contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Seniors Sydni Eure and Erin Gantley both had six points, while Zimmerman had all five of her blocks in the first half to lead the Lakers.
- Oswego was down 32-21 after two quarters.
- The lead grew to as much as 21 before a 7-1 Laker run to end the third quarter put them within striking distance.
- The fourth quarter was the Lakers quarter going on a 9-2 run in the beginning of the quarter while hitting three 3-pointers to close the deficit to eight points and forcing a Blue Devil timeout.
- In all, they finished the fourth stanza going 7-for-15 in field goals, but Fredonia buckled down late to end on a 10-0 run in the final three minutes of action.
- In 35 minutes, Taylor Torchia had 11 points and five rebounds to lead Oswego in points.
- Zimmerman finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, also adding 4 steals.
- Eure and Wolanin just missed double-doubles with 10 points and nine rebounds and eight points and nine rebounds, respectively.

The Lakers will host the Buffalo State Bengals tomorrow Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m. in the Max Ziel Gymnasium.
