WILLIAMSPORT, PA.
– In a sixteen team field, including five of the top-25 from the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) poll, the Oswego State wrestling team dropped a trio of dual matches on the first day of the Budd Whitehill Division III Tournament.  Freshman Charlie Grygas led the way with three wins on the day, including two major decisions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Springfield
  • Oswego was led in the Springfield match by freshman Grygas who won a 12-2 major decision over Nicolas Monteleone at 165.
  • In the following match, junior Isaac Mathews won a 5-0 decision to pull Oswego to within 19-7.
  • William Hardin II continued his trend of high scoring bouts at 133, coming up just short in a 12-11 decision.
  • At 149, junior Josh Bressette also lost a close matchup, 5-2, while classmate Caleb Beach was defeated 8-4 in his bout.
#21 Wis.-Eau Claire
  • Against the Blugolds, Hardin won his bout by injury (5:05) for six team points.
  • Grygas won his second major decision of the day, 12-3, over Chase Schmidt for the other Laker team points.
York (PA)
  • Grygas made it a hat trick on the day with a 5-0 decision over Edward Williams of York.
  • Mathews picked up his second victory of the day with a 13-1 major decision over Joseph Bunce.
  • Also scoring for Oswego by way of decision was Bressette (5-3) and freshman Colby Harblin (8-7).

Oswego returns to Williamsport for the second day of competition at the Budd Whitehill DIII Duals.
