MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team took on the Morrisville State Mustangs this afternoon, winning a 4-3 battle of NEWHL opponents. The Lakers scored three goals in the second period in a back-and-forth contest with the Mustangs.
Philomena Teggart had two goals in the game, including the game-decider.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Morrisville scored first in the game at 2:31 of the first period, but the Lakers wasted no time as Kyleigh Grugin tied the game just 33 seconds later to even the score at 1-1.
- The rest of the first period was scoreless despite 16 total saves by both goalies.
- The second period started fast as Teggart netted a goal (5) to put the Lakers up 2-1 at the 1:31 mark. The goal was assisted by Eryn Stewart (12) and Megan Teachout (10).
- Momentum swung as the Mustangs scored two goals in the middle of the second period to put them up 3-2.
- Stewart got her second point of the game with a short-handed goal at 10:48, just 29 seconds after the Mustangs took the lead.
- Late in the third period with the Lakers surging, Teggart scored her second goal of the game, assisted by Sara Cruise which proved to be the game-winner.
- The Lakers had seven players with points during the game, including Mia Conboy and Avery Webster with assists.
- The Lakers edged the Mustangs in a tight faceoff battle, winning 26-of-49 draws. Leading the team in faceoffs were Aislinn McAleer (6) and Sara Cruise going 6-for-7 in faceoffs.
- Rachael Farmer finished the game with 20 saves to bring her saves total to 255 on the season and putting her in third position in the conference. She is also tied for first in wins in the NEWL with eight wins.
- The Lakers have only lost one game in their past nine contests.
- Stewart is now tied for third in the NEWHL in points with 17, including 5 goals and 12 assists. Right behind her and tied for fourth is Megan Teachout with 16 points on 6 goals and 10 assists.

The Lakers will host the top-ranked team in the nation, No.1 Plattsburgh Cardinals on Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center in a matchup that pits the No.1 and No.2 ranked teams in the NEWHL conference.
