Team Effort Proves Not Enough For Lakers

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team took the loss this afternoon against league-leading Cortland by a score of 52-40. Sydni Eure earned her fifth double-double of the season finishing with 15 points and 17 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Dragons started fast going on a 9-2 run from the beginning of the game until the 4:42 mark of the first quarter.
  • Oswego answered back in the second quarter going on a run of their own, stretching from 40 seconds of the first quarter to 7:32 of the second quarter. 
  • This 10-2 run was led by Raiven Encarnacion who had five of the ten points. She finished the game with 13 points and three rebounds.
  • During the quarter, the Lakers shot 56% on field goals to help them take a three-point lead into the half as Sydni Eure (9) and Raiven Encarnacion (8) were the offensive leaders.
  • Early in the third quarter, the Oswego lead grew to seven on buckets from freshman Taylor Torchia and Encarnacion.
  • Cortland then clamped down on the Lakers with a pivotal 18-2 run to take a 39-30 lead into the final quarter.
  • The Red Dragons outscored the hosts, 13-10, in the final quarter to clinch the victory.
  • Eure led the team with 15 points and 17 rebounds earning her fifth double-double of the season.
  • The Lakers stayed up-tempo, scoring eight points on the fast-break throughout.
 WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers remain at home on Tuesday as they look to get back on track against the Oneonta Red Dragons.  Tip-off is set to start at 5:30 p.m. in the Max Ziel Gymnasium.
