Swimming & Diving Teams Soar Past Redhawks

CHILI, N.Y.
– The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving programs were both successful in dual meet action at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon.  The men won 197-30 and the women posted a 183-54 victory.

THE BASICS
  • Men's Final Score:  Oswego 197, Roberts Wesleyan 30

  • Women's Final Score:  Oswego 183, Roberts Wesleyan 54
  • Women's Records:  Oswego 6-2 | Roberts Wesleyan 4-3
  • Location:  Voller Athletic Center, Roberts Wesleyan College – Chili, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lakers took top honors in 27 of the 28 total events in the afternoon.
  • Andrew Buyea kicked off the individual event winning for the men with a first in the 1,000-yard freestyle and a time of 11:07.25.
  • Ryan Kreuser (100-yard backstroke), Nick Weber (100-yard breaststroke), Sebastian Lasher (200-yard butterfly) and Alex Davie (100-yard freestyle) followed with wins in four of the next five events.
  • Walker Snowden (200-yard backstroke), Austin Bull (200-yard breaststroke), Erick Zizic (500-yard freestyle), Brendan Beutel and Zachary Brown swept the final five individual events for the Lakers.
  • In relay action, Matthew Seyse, Buyea, Snowden, and Justin Mancuso were the top squad in the 200-yard freestyle relay. 
  • Pete Kovalovsky, Brown, David Jones, and Kreuser won the 200-yard medley relay.
  • On the women's side, Keaton Maring (200-yard IM, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle) and Twyla Nastasia (50-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle) led the women with a trio of individual wins. 
  • Eva Potvin (100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard backstroke), Kaitlyn Gerstler (200-yard breaststroke), Lok Chi Hon (200-yard butterfly), Kelsey Oliverio (100-yard butterfly) and Madeleine Crean (100-yard backstroke) were your other event winners for the women.
  • Crean, Potvin, Oliverio and Maring all took part in the winning 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.99.
  • It was a similar group in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Nastasia and Jill Leahy joining Crean and Potvin for the win.
WHAT'S NEXT

The divers head over to Ithaca College for their invitational tomorrow with a 10 a.m. start planned.
