POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team traveled North to take on the Bears of Potsdam in an NEWHL matchup. The Lakers played to a draw against the Bears, the final being 3-3. Potsdam tied the game with 7.8 seconds remaining in the third period and the overtime went scoreless.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers started out fast, as Amber Thomas opened the scoring for Oswego at 1:12 of the first period from in front of the net. The assist was awarded to Eryn Stewart for her 20th point of the season.
- Megan Teachout scored her ninth goal of the season and 20th point midway through the second period to keep the points lead tied with Stewart. .
- Kyleigh Grugin (4) and Morgan Shines (7) assisted the goal.
- The Bears knocked the goose-egg off of the board at the 14:26 mark of the second period on the power play.
- The goal was scored on a second-chance rebound by Kaylee Merrill, it was unassisted.
- The Bears tied the game on their second power-play goal of the night, scored by Natalie Wasielewski at 15:44 of the second period.
- Penalties in the game caused issues for the Lakers, with eight through only two periods leading to both goals for the Bears.
- Coming into the game, Oswego was ranked second in the NEWHL in Penalty Kill Percentage at 85.4%, only behind No.1 Plattsburgh.
- Morgan Shines found the back of the net for her second point of the game, coming from a beautiful stretch pass from Avery Webster, giving her the 2-on-1 break and giving Oswego the lead at 3-2 with 10:33 on the clock in the third period.
- Potsdam, with a last-ditch effort, tied the game with 7.8 seconds remaining, sending the game to overtime.
- The tying goal was scored by Natalie Wasielewski for her second goal of the game and assisted by Alexis Clark.
- Oswego held possession for the majority of the overtime period but were unable to find the back of the net.
- Kate Randazzo finished the game with a team-leading seven shots.
- On top of her two points, Shines won 67% of her faceoffs in leading the Lakers.
- With 28 saves in tonight's contest, this makes it Rachael Farmer's third consecutive game with at least 20 saves.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will host the Hamilton Continentals in a non-conference matchup at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28. The Lakers look to get their first win against Hamilton College since 2015.
