OSWEGO, N.
Y. - The Oswego State wrestling team suffered a pair of dual match setbacks on Saturday afternoon at Max Ziel Gymnasium.  The Lakers were defeated by Castleton in their opener, 26-12, then 25-16 in the second bout against Brockport.  Junior Christian Gramuglia and freshman Charlie Grygas won both their matchups to lead the Lakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Against Castleton, Gramuglia scored a 5-0 decision to get Oswego on the board at 157.
  • Grygas followed him with an 8-2 decision of his own at 165.
  • Newcomer Toryan Jones had the most impressive result with a fall just 14 seconds into his matchup.
  • This one could have swung either way as three of the matchups (John DeConno, Isaac Mathews and Aidan Mathews) were decided by sudden victory after the first three periods ended in ties.
  • The 133 matchup was close as well, with William Hardin II suffering a 4-3 loss by decision.
  • In the Brockport matchup, Gramuglia (7-3 decision) and Grygas (3-2 decision) each earned their second wins of the day.
  • Kaleb Carreon earned a 10-0 major decision for four team points for the Lakers at 133.
  • Both Mathews were victorious in this one, with Isaac taking a 3-2 decision and Aidan winning a 7-2 decision.
  • Josh Bressette wrestled well on the day but was out-pointed in both his matchups (4-1, 5-0).
